Have you tried Skerries Historical Society? You could try Fergal Quinn too, his Dad ran Red Island.

I could give you some history on the "amusements" in skerries but i am afraid you would get the boot from the school.

In the mid 1950's the 2 of the main entertainers in Red Island were men named Kevin Casey who played the accordian and Tommy Loftus who was a singer, comedian and Master of Ceremonies. Probably no twhat you need but .... every Monday morning Kevin & Tommy would escort a couple of VW minibuses to Loughshinney where they where the holidaymakers were entertained by kids dancing, singing, reciting poetry etc for a few hours. Jeeeeeze, when I think of it now ....lol...and all for a few pennys and a jar of lollipops shared out. Imagine trying to do that today, they would be accused of exploitation!!! Don't forget it was "Gents" before it was Red Island...

Few images from the Skerries History in Photos of Red Island. #the venue was popular with British tourists in the early 50s because the UK was still under rationing.
