It's like that sound will never truly be resurrected, and I'm guessing here, but this was before the electric guitar was invented, and rock bands have probably replaced the big bands forever because of instruments and sound electronic available. Destined to be classics forever.
        I believe in.......

In 1988 we went to my b-i-l's club to a WW II Extravaganza with
"The Herb Miller Band" it was a great night, Glen Miller's nephew John Miller was the band leader, I got his autograph and a kiss on the cheek. it was getting near the end of the night and we had to beg them to play "In the mood" the hall was all done up in camouflage and not all but some wore 40's clothes.
You got to have a twinkle in your wrinkle.

What a nice coincidence, I just spent the last hour learning the words to this very tune. Its part of a variety concert we are putting on next feb.
Like I said, just a nice coincidence.
here are the words in case people thought it was purely an instrumental.

Who's the lovin' daddy with the beautiful eyes
What a pair o' lips, I'd like to try 'em for size
I'll just tell him, "Baby, won't you swing it with me"
Hope he tells me maybe, what a wing it will be
So, I said politely "Darlin' may I intrude"
He said "Don't keep me waitin' when I'm in the mood"

First I held him lightly and we started to dance
Then I held him tightly what a dreamy romance
And I said "Hey, baby, it's a quarter to three
There's a mess of moonlight, won't-cha share it with me"
"Well" he answered "Baby, don't-cha know that it's rude
To keep my two lips waitin' when they're in the mood"

In the mood, that's what he told me
In the mood, and when he told me
In the mood, my heart was skippin'
It didn't take me long to say "I'm in the mood now"

In the mood for all his kissin'
In the mood his crazy lovin'
In the mood what I was missin'
It didn't take me long to say "I'm in the mood now"

Vocal version by the Andrews Sisters from the same era... good luck with the show.

A slightly slower tempo than what we're doing.
I just noticed the lyrics are different also.
I'd Better not listen to that one as I'm having enough problems learning the one I posted.
