so many birds around my house, and some nesting in the roof space above my bedroom, lovely sound
in the garden today there was a huge fight between a group of small birds in my tree, they looked like they were trying to kill each other

On Sunday May 7th 2017, Europe will once more awake to the sound of bird song, thanks to a collaboration between RTÉ and EBU members.

The Dawn Chorus has become a radio phenomenon in Ireland. Every spring, for more than two decades now, Derek Mooney and his Mooney Goes Wild team on RTÉ Radio 1 have broadcast the sounds of early morning birdsong into homes across the country. Following on from the huge success of the multi-award winning European Dawn Chorus programme in 2016 (scooping the Rose D'Or for European Radio Event Of The Year and national PPI Radio Award for Innovation), RTÉ will once more team up with broadcasters and bird experts across Europe to bring listeners the exquisite sound and expert analysis of this beautiful birdsong.

We'll get to listen in to the songs of the birds in twenty-one different locations, spanning six time zones across twelve countries, as we traverse every latitude and longitude from India to Iceland, following the wave of light as it reveals this ornithological opera!

The countries who will contribute birdsong this year are:

                - Ireland

                - Northern Ireland

                - Great Britain

                - India

                - Finland

                - Lithuania

                - Austria

                - Netherlands

                - Norway

                - Poland

                - Spain
BBC Radio 4 will start broadcasting at 12.30am.

I will give it a miss as I occasionally go out at dawn for the real thing....

We also occasionally go to the nearby Somerset levels for the dusk displays....

I'd be tuned in at that time of night normally... and got a shock when I saw your thread - thought it involved shoving a mic out the of the studio window.

                        But the music is excellent...
