Approximately 300,000 Palestinian civilians have been warned to leave their homes in preparation for another Israeli massacre like the one of December 2008/January 2009 which will be termed a "war" by the Israelis although there will be no battles.
As an occupying power, Israel cannot claim a right to self defense while refusing to honor its obligation to protect innocent civilians. There is such a thing as humanitarian law which requires an army to make a distinction between combatants and civilians, such as infants. Proportionality is also recognized as a humanitarian response to attack as well as the necessity to use military force. Collectively punishing the entire Palestinian population under blockade with nowhere to go is not necessary to defend Israelis from ineffective rockets. It would be more appropriate and effective for Israel to stop the occupation/blockade and begin to respect the rights of Palestinians to freedom in their own country. What we are witnessing is an Israeli war crime.
