My understanding is that to allow abortion on demand under Irish law the government have to abolish/do away with... items 58 and 59 of Offences Against The Persons Act 1861. If they do that, the legislation protecting the unborn child is gone.
I need to know what this means for the future, not just for me but also for my grandchildren and their children. I feel I have a responsibility to ensure that my vote cannot be used in the future to harm the innocent.
As Bigby said earlier we need to see the wording of the Referendum..

I can see why you're worried Barefoot, as the clauses are very general and relate to pregnancy at any stage......I suppose that once they're gone you feel there might then be no protection against more and more legislation......I've no idea how this works, once the legislation is passed does it go into the Constitution as an amendment?
