  • Film and TV studios sue over illegal downloads in State

Up to 1.3 million people living in the State may be involved in illegally accessing the work of six film and TV studios via various websites, a court has heard.
The six studios, all members of the Motion Picture Association, have brought an action in the Commercial Court aimed at stopping the alleged “massive” illegal downloading of their work.
The studios claim that digital piracy is costing them hundreds of millions annually and, according to recent research, led to the loss of 500 jobs in the State in 2015 and €320 million in lost revenues.
The plaintiff studios are Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Bros Entertainment, Paramount Pictures, Disney Enterprises, Universal Studios, Sony Pictures Television and Columbia Pictures, and their case is supported by independent distributors and filmmakers in Ireland.
Can't blame them. Full story HERE.
    Everything is self-evident.

How do they stop VPN usage?

The real one is sports, look at rugby Champions Cup and Premier League, who can afford BT Sports and Sky Sports together. Plus they never show all your team games live unlike other "sources"

They can stop or curtail child porn... it can't be that difficult to nab a few punters involved in large scale illegal downloads and start handing out some hefty fines.

Probably too late, you have generations that have grown up with piracy since VHS in the 80s.

Mr Justice Brian Cregan granted the injunction against three pirate websites. The three sites at the centre of the case are: movie4k.to, primewire.ag and onwatchseries.to. During October alone, Primewire received 1.26 million visits emanating from Ireland, Watchseries 1.9 million and Movie4k 200,000.
