    Anyone know how many picture houses there were in Dublin in the mid to late 50s? it seemed to me when I read the evening paper there were dozens,and they were all showing different pictures every night. my dream was to go to every one of them,lol.I would love to know exactly how many there really were!

            not forgetting the lyric in james st and the grand in whitehall and the drum in drumcondra and there was also a picture house in inchicore cant remember the name..

              There was the Royal,Regal,Mary St Cinema,Cabra Grand.By the way olddub,do you know theres a cinema in Smithfield now called The Lighthouse?

                  paudge. last time i was in dublin parked in under ground car park in queens st and emerged out into smith field beside the lighthouse cinema .certainly changed since i used to take a shortcut through thundercut alley (roughly in the same place ) to get to smithfield.the changes are unbelievable in that part of dublin.
