Okay, to start with, I admit that I referred to Brexit voters as "Little Englanders". By that I meant their reason for wanting to leave the EU was so that Britain would become a more inward - looking nation, only concerned with its own interests, and taking less of a role in international affairs. I believe at the time I was disappointed with the result of the referendum and may have been a little unfair in my assumptions. I apologise if I have caused either you or Kath any offence.
With regard to clerical abuse in Ireland, I clearly don't know as much about the issue as you do. As you rightly point out, I was not there at the time. All I was doing in my posts was responding to your assertion that the "whole country" was complicit in this abuse. I do not believe this is the case, though of course I have no hard evidence to support this belief, just as you have no evidence that the "whole God - Fearing country" was to blame - it is really just a matter of opinion.

The propaganda about the Eternal Flames still works, but the real shoite was to give the masses the illusion that if they FOLLOWED they were somehow superior to others......
IMO they were the ''Catholic Nazis''.....and still are.....

I have seen people turn their noses-up at my Mother and actually cross to the other side of the street......

They did that to the kindest woman on this earth......
Yes really.....because Dev wrote up the constitution with huge input from McQuaid his BlackrocCollege mate.....tying State and Religion to the detriment of many generations.

Absolutely agree......i never ever heard of the full goings on in the reform schools until much later in life.......we knew they were houses of correction but never had an incling of the buggery and debauchery that was being administered......never.

During one of our get together he was telling me that he was sexually abused at Artane. Some weekends he was taken on the back of a motor bike to Daingean and raped on a regular basis. He said priests came from all over Ireland and the U.K. to have their fun. Sometimes, he said that he was raped several time in one night. He ran away from Artane when he was 13 and made his way to London.

The long term effect on this man stayed with him for the rest of his life. He was so effected that he could not even bath his baby daughters. He still cries over what happened to him. He is now 78 yrs of age, ffs.
disasterous how do ya do.....a destroyed human being.

Now go back and read what I said in the context what I it in........

And stop talking opinions on this very serious thread.....

if you have anything useful to add to the subject I will be pleased to read it....

Scene....Daingean Mess Hall at visiting time......

A most obnoxious looking man (yes they gave those jobs to the horrors) standing in the corner listening and watching what was going on......Dressed in a dirty black gown with a thick leather belt around his waist and wearing a Crucifix.....

Boys trying to hold back their tears as they reach out to hold their Parents hands.....They were afraid to cry as they knew they would get ridiculed and beaten later on for doing so......They were also afraid to say too much as that would invite a severer beating later on......

You're right to stick up for your parents - stating that every man woman and child in the country was complicit in clerical or state abuse is every bit as inaccurate as putting the entire blame on Dev and McQuaid. The past is no less complex than today is, there's plenty of evidence for that.
                Everything is self-evident.

The entire blame was all Devs aided and abetted by McQuaid and Rome in criminalising the free will of generations of the nation... have another look at the McQuaid thread.....Between them they scripted religion and state into law.....They and they particularly are to blame.....for people being criminalised for attempting to limit the size of their families with contraception. ...no no no the good book said no....and those two tossers made sure of that......enslaving a nation for decades.....how clever was that........

Tell me who it was then if you say im wrong Convince me with your knowledge. ..knowledge you infer i dont have......
