Smugglers will get around it, its family tradition with many living beside the border, from sweets to cigarettes.

Smugglers would simply ignore it I'd imagine as it relies largely on voluntary compliance - bit like the toll system on the M50 motorway. Would be fine for fast tracking a road haulier''s documentation but useless for meeting the requirements of those who would seek to restrict the free movement of people across what would be an EU/UK frontier.
          Everything is self-evident.

The Irish won't be in any hurry to spend money on a border they don't want. It'll probably fall back on whoever wants it most... the Brits or the EU.

99% on the island would concur with that sentiment... hopefully London and Brussels will use common sense when it comes up in the negotiations.

99% in England and Wales would not even notice and a unification would get a response like.....''Should have happened years ago''.......
