Joe;What about the people's lives she destroyed in Wales and the North of England without so much as sorry about that, and the hated poll tax that nearly tore the country apart? She was just another war monger. She was also no friend of Ireland, and died unsung by the working people of the UK.

When Margaret Thatcher became Prime Minister in May 1979, she was confronted with a country that was in a permanent state of decline.
              The three-day week
              The Winter of Discontent,
              The previous coal mining strikes.
              Rolling blackouts.
Rubbish piling up in the streets
              The dead being left unburied

The unions were in control of the country and Britain was a shadow of its former self, laughed at by the rest of the world.

Hated by some, loved by others, some of her greatest achievements were the Falklands War, Right to buy scheme, defeat of the unions and the end of the cold war.

She saved Britain from becoming a satellite state of the Soviet Union, she was partly responsible for the end of the USSR without firing a shot or starting a war.

she was victorious in three elections. All the qualities of a great leader!!
I google because I'm not young enough to know everything.

Re-poll tax........You seem to be under the impression that ''everybody was against the Poll-Tax.....You are so so wrong......

I was in favor of the poll tax because I firmly believe that everybody should pay a fair share for the services received.

She was the victim of dodgy newspaper Headlines......Obviously believed by those abroad......

It was sad the way declining industries were hurried to their death but that has as much if not more to do with the left-Wing Loonies.....

Like a lot of successful politicians it went to her head in the end.....

She brought in the 'right to buy' at a discount.....Council properties were always for sale at the Councils discretion......But without the guaranteed discount.....

It's all true ....While the steel workers slept themselves out of jobs on the night shifts........King Arthur (Scargill) fought to keep obsolete coal mines open even though they were hemorrhaging money at a massive rate.

British Steel was no better....much as it is today with Tata losing one million quid a day.

Had other leaders such as Atlee, Churchill, Macmillan and Wilson, faced up to the real reasons for the economic problems they would have left a much better legacy.

No investment = non competitive = no sales = close down = loss of jobs.....they didn't see it coming ?...
