  • Climate Change a load of bull??

I've seen some ads on TV here recently that promote vegetarianism. Now they argue that climate change can be reversed quickly if we don't eat meat. The premise seems to be that most of the problem is caused by methane emitted by cattle. So I take it that they must propose that we kill all the cattle and just eat vegetables! Can this be true???

"they argue that climate change can be reversed quickly if we don't eat meat."

Sounds like something that Cam O'Flage would promote !

But they're dead right .... I say kill all things that emit methane .... oops, that means that the entire human race is for the chop !

This can't be true. Big corporations just trying to blame it on something other than smokestack industries & autos.
      I believe in.......

I have to give vegans credit for what they believe they are doing with their lifestyle. I couldn't eat like that myself, and most folks would consider me a healthy eater & exerciser.

To be honest Patricia, I think they are a bunch of nutters. We are omnivores, we eat meat and vegetation. What got me was the fact that they were proposing that we stop eating meat because the cattle create methane. So what are we supposed to just slaughter million and millions of cattle, I think the Indian Hindus wouldn't be too happy with that. So where do we get our milk, goats?? Anyway as far as I know every animal on the planet is producing methane also. Where do we stop, humans next?

I agree. Humans have always eaten meat far as I can see. Back when things were more simple, I'd guess that folks would eat what ever was available. Only in the 20th century & beyond did we have so many picky eaters.

Lotsa folks down under probably getting a kick out of those ads on TV & the nutters. With the TV stations down there, wonder which group will ultimately have the most power: The vegans or the Aussie cattle industry. I know your country exports ALOT of meat around the world, so it must be a very big industry indeed.

And, from my understanding, vegans are the type of vegetarian that do not eat ANY animal products...no cheese, eggs, milk, nothing. That's a hard, self-imposted lifestyle I'm thinking.

They are dreaming if they think we're going to stop eating meat. But picking up on your earlier comment about smokestack industries, I wonder who is funding this, it wouldn't surprise me if big biz is mixed up in this.

Putting the blame onto individuals and their diet is the perfect cop out, because it lets those who own and control production and distribution get away with doing nothing.

In Britain, it is reported, supermarkets throw away enough unsold food to feed six million people every year. That is the entire population of Ireland.....and perhaps Iceland. as well.

My son, to his credit.... is talking about going veggie. He will be 55 in 2050......I will be dead.

climate change is a natural event, it occurs every few years, all this talk about the greenhouse effect is a load of rubbish. The earth is just going through a natural cycle. These "learned" men of science just like to scare the shite out of people to justify their jobs.
                      Proof:
                      1. These "learned" men cannot cure a cold
                      2. These "learned" men cannot predict the weather accurately
                      3. These "learned" men keep contradicing each other about everything.
                      4. These "learned" men cannot agree if their is, or is not a God.
                      5. These "learned" men keep predicting the end of the world, and keep getting it wrong.

if WE normal people were as inaccurate in our jobs as the "learned" men,we would get the sack.
so the lesson for today is................ignore all the "learned" men, and just enjoy and live your life how you want to, and stop being scared, to eat, or breathe, or drive.....or as WHAM once said..............CHOOSE LIFE
and as you sit in your cold cold house because you dare not switch on the heating, because of stupidly high charges THINK.............WOT FECKING GREENHOUSE EFFECT

But, if we ate a load of beans and brussells sprouts, would the methane problem just be transferred?

soooooooooooo...willie and i were vegetarians for almost 10 years then vegans god bless the mark for 6.......................and yer man produced more bloomin gas than an old oil fire...he was dangerous to be around..it was all the beans and lentils.....i took beano so didnt have the problem lol...

then he developed no feelings in his toes, creeping up to his ankles and the dr told him he had a serious lack of vitamin B12 due to lack of meat in his diet....so we said feck that and went out and bought a lb of bacon and made tea and sandwiches and that was the end of that....and most of the gas...
