Probably part of a PR campaign but you can bet they will be selling overpriced hot food and drinks to give you the full airport experience but certainly looks a nice idea.

Yes, I presume the viewing facilities will be outside the airport fence. Munich Airport has a viewing hill that overlooks the airport inside a park with old planes.

1967 I got a message my Father was very ill and he would not last through the night. I got a lift to Heathrow for the Star flight at midnight...In the rush I had left my wallet behind so when I got to Dublin Airport at one in the morning I had to walk home. Thank God it was not raining. My Father died sixteen weeks later....
